Roasted Garlic White Pizza Sauce
We’re BIG fans of pizza (who isn’t though, really??!!!) and we love all sorts of different veggie pizza toppings. This is a delicious sauce we like to make for our pizzas as an alternative to the traditional tomato sauce. It’s pretty easy to make and only takes about an hour, roasting time included. This sauce is also delicious as a bread dipper.
INGREDIENTS:
1 head of garlic
1/4 cup olive oil + more (if needed)
1 tsp Italian seasoning (basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary)
*use any combo of the these spices that you have.
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
METHOD:
1 - Heat oven to 375° F. Gently slice off and remove the top of the head of garlic, so that the individual garlic cloves are exposed, but garlic head still remains in one piece. Place garlic on a piece of foil and drizzle with approx. 1 tsp olive oil, and add a dash of the Italian spices, salt, and pepper too. Wrap garlic in foil and bake in oven for about 45 mins, or until garlic pieces are soft and squishy. Unwrap garlic and let cool.
2 - Once cool enough to handle, use a knife or squeeze out all the soft garlic pieces into a small bowl, and dispose of the garlic casing (be sure to get all the garlic pieces out!)
3 - Add olive oil and seasonings. Use a fork to mash down the garlic and mix it together.
4 - Spread evenly over your pizza dough and add you toppings! For dough recipe and cook time see Easy Pizza Dough from Scratch.
